Vilna Ghetto.  Lithuania, 1941.  The true story of Jewish survival.

The price of survival was exorbitant for Yakov Gens, the police chief of the Jewish Ghetto, who was despised by his own for participating in the Nazi 'selection' process, determining which Jews would die and which would live.  He stifled dissent and ordered the community's Jewish artists to form a cabaret to distract people from their fate.  It was with the local factory and this theatre comapny that he actually set out to save as many Jews as he possibly could.

This drama probes to the heart of human frailty, revealing how far people will go to survive, and how far back they can travel to redeem themselves. (LA WEEKLY PICK OF THE WEEK)
